Privacy policy

This policy covers mycontractorkit.com and the Contractor Kit platform, operated by Yakuta Consulting. It explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. If something here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it in plain language.

Who this policy is about

Two different groups of people show up in our systems, and they are treated differently.

Contractors (our customers)

You sign up, you pay us, you use the dashboard. We hold your account and business information because we need it to provide the service.

Homeowners (your customers)

When someone fills out a quote or booking widget on your website, that information passes through our platform and lands in your dashboard and your CRM. That data is yours. We process it on your behalf so we can deliver it to you, and we do not market to those people, sell their information, or use it to build anything of our own.

What we collect from contractors

• Account information: name, email, phone, password (stored hashed, never in readable form).
• Business information: company name, business address, phone, and the subdomain you choose for your dashboard.
• Payment information: handled by Stripe. Card numbers never touch our servers. We store a Stripe customer reference, the last four digits, the card brand, and your billing history so we can show you receipts and charge your subscription.
• Pricebook and catalog data: the equipment, services, and pricing you load in or sync from your field service software.
• Usage information: server logs, IP addresses, browser and device information, and which dashboard pages get used. We use this to keep the platform running and to fix problems.

What passes through from homeowners

When a homeowner uses a widget on your website, we may receive their name, phone number, email address, service address or ZIP code, their answers to your form questions, photos they upload, the quote options they were shown, which option they picked, and the appointment they requested.

We also record technical details of the session, such as approximate location derived from IP address, so the widget can check whether they are in your service area and so you can see where a lead came from.

Why we collect it

• To create and run your dashboard and subsite.
• To deliver leads to you in real time and sync them to your CRM or field service software.
• To charge your subscription and send receipts.
• To send service messages: welcome emails, payment receipts, renewal notices, password resets, and account notifications.
• To provide support, including white glove setup, when you ask for it.
• To keep the platform secure and diagnose problems.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers, and only to run the product:

• Stripe for payment processing.
• Your field service software or CRM (ServiceTitan, Jobber, Housecall Pro, and others), when you connect it, because sending leads there is the point.
• Google Maps for address lookup and validation.
• Email and hosting providers to deliver messages and keep the servers up.

We do not sell personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with advertisers. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and business data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel, we keep your data for a reasonable period so you can come back or export it, then delete or anonymize it. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. You can ask us to delete your data sooner and we will, except where we are legally required to keep it.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS. Passwords are hashed. Each contractor's data lives on its own subsite with separate database tables, so one customer cannot see another's leads. Dashboard access is role-based. Card data is handled entirely by Stripe.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you what happened and what we are doing about it.

Your choices

• See or correct your information: most of it is editable in your dashboard settings. Ask us for anything that is not.
• Export your data: ask and we will get it to you.
• Delete your account: ask and we will close it and remove your data, subject to records we must keep.
• Service emails: receipts, renewal notices, and account messages are part of the service and cannot be turned off while your account is active. Any marketing email we send will have an unsubscribe link.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. We apply the choices above to everyone, regardless of location.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your dashboard preferences, and keep sessions secure. Stripe sets its own cookies on the payment step to prevent fraud. We do not run third party advertising trackers.

Children

The platform is built for businesses and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and let active customers know by email. Continuing to use the platform after a change means the updated policy applies.
